Listenup is the creation of Andrew Steer, who developed the App when he witnessed the grief and despair experienced by family members at the imminent death of a cherished relative. He recognised the need for a shared resource that would empower users to share messages, end of life choices, donor wishes or simply happy events.

Says Andrew, ‘There’s are two things the entire human race holds in common; we are all born and we all die. We celebrate birth as a new beginning, a precious arrival and we have endless conversations about it. Yet, there remains an unspoken taboo about death. We even avoid using the word die, preferring to use terms such as pass, passed away, departed…’

‘When someone passes, we regret we didn't ask more, listen closely to their stories, and experiences they shared. Assuming they would always be there, it’s difficult to accept the unresolved emotions, missed opportunities, or unspoken words. Equally, enabling others to express their love, gratitude, or appreciation before the person passes’
